These are by no means absolutes but some things I’ve come to think over the course of my 30 years in the field.

The developmental order of things…
Walking generally occurs before talking. Why? – It just seems more kids walk before they talk as development unfolds. Part of the reason for this may be the head neck control needed for ambulation puts the mouth in a better position physically to talk.

Attention
When formulating speech goals – pay attention to the mouth- my goal might not be developmentally what is going to unfold next. always pay attention to where the mouth actually is for clues what’s next. I’m thinking z but maybe the kid is all about the k sound

Patience
When all else fails patience time has a way of making things better – we tend to multiply the moment we are to view what life will be like 10 or even 20 years from now.

Fun
Granted there’s a need to work – but remember your working with kids – and kids learn best when they’re having fun

It’s not necessarily what you think…
Some kids tend to work on one thing at a time. A two year old boy around the time he took his first steps completely shut down on speech. Once able to walk – speech skills started to grow – dramatically.

1. Length – just what is the ideal length of a domain name?
Is short more effective than long?

In the begining – when the domain industry started a short was the way to to go. Today most of the short domains 2-3-4-5-6-7 letters are long gone – and those which are available may cost more than your budget will allow. Way back in 98-99-2000 domainers sat by a computer with an open dictionary and just purchased every word or logical letter combination they could find. If you could buy a 4 letter name for $10 and sell it for $50 or more you did well (if you could find a buyer).
In today’s market short may work well if you can find or afford – but with over 189 million domains sold the more important element of a name rests with its branding power. Is your name consistent with your existing business? And if you don’t yet have a business can you build one around your new name? Is the word or combination of words found in your domain consistent with the word or words your clients thinks of – when they think about you or something you do?

The good news is the http:// prompt is quite literate. It can hold letters, numbers, words, phrases and even a short sentence. And to match this internet users, with the advent of the smart phone are considerably more adept at typing than a decade ago. In addition with advent of voice assistance now found in Siri and google the idea of having the shortest possible name is not necessarily the most important element of a name.
